KUALA LUMPUR: Former DAP member Yew Tian Hoe, who submitted his nomination as an independent candidate for the Aulong state seat in Perak has dropped out from the race.
Yew was not selected by the party leadership to defend his seat.
He then filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate, and was later sacked by the party.
Announcing this in the party headquarters together with Lim Kit Siang here on Tuesday, Yew's withdrawal means there will be a straight fight between DAP candidate Leow Thye Yih and Barisan Nasional's Soo Kay Ping.
