KUCHING: The Hindus here have pledged their undivided support to Barisan Nasional’s candidate for Stampin, Datuk Yong Khoon Seng.
International Society for Krishna Consciousness Malaysia Kuching Branch chairman Krispa Singhu Khrisna Das said Yong had been instrumental in helping them get the much needed multi-purpose hall built in Batu Kawah.
The hall was useful as venue for weddings, cultural and religious activities and free tuition classes for children of all races living nearby, he said.
“We have a lot of donors and sponsors but the main person who contributed to the building fund was Yong.
“He also gave us a lot of moral support over the years.
“Yong is a nice, humble man who keeps a low profile. I call on all to give him the support he needed on polling day so that he can continue serving our multi-racial society,” he said at a blessing ceremony and appreciation dinner here last Saturday.
Thanking Krispa and the Hindu community for their support and kind words, Yong said Barisan still had a lot of things to do in Stampin.
He said the constituency, which covered urban, sub-urban and rural areas, had different problems and needs and promised to do his best to meet all these demands.
At the same time, Barisan needed a strong mandate from the people so that it could continue its transformation programmes in the government and economy, he said.
