THE Penang Shan Children’s Home Association received a boost with a RM10,000 donation from Globetronics Sdn Bhd under the Penang Starwalk 2012 charity walk.
The donation is part of the pledge from 10 companies who agreed to contribute a total of RM100,000 to 10 charitable organisations in Penang.
The home’s administrator S. Saras Pillay said she was extremely grateful and that the donations would help the home in a big way.
“The money will go towards the home’s maintenance such as utilities, education for the children, as well as daily necessities,” said Saras.
She added that they depended entirely on public donations.
She hoped that more donations would come in from the public as the home needed to buy a van.
Globetronics Human Resource manager Ng Kok Choong said this was the second year the company had participated in the charity walk.
“Last year, we pledged RM10,000 to the Penang Down Syndrome Association,” he said.
