PETALING JAYA: Adam Shaw of Canada stormed to the boys’ Under-18 title in the inaugural RSGC AmBank Junior Amateur Open golf championships at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC).
Shaw won by a massive 17 strokes with a three-day total of 213.
Mohd Izad, who was trailing in third place on Wednesday, tied with Nick Ang on 230 but finished second on countback. The tournament was played on a stroke-play format.
National junior Ervin Chang kept the Malaysian flag flying by winning the boys’ Under-15 title with a score of 227.
Amir Nazrin, who was fourth on Wednesday, made a late surge to finish on 234 for second place. Danial Durisic blew up with an 82 to finish third.
The girls’ category saw the Philippines dominate in both the Under-18 and Under-15 categories. Dottie Ardina carded a final round of 72 for a three-day total of 214 to emerge the Under-18 champion.
Team-mate Sarah Ababa was second on 221 while Malaysia’s Genevieve Ling claimed third place with 230.
Filipina Princess Superal took the Under-15 title with a total of 221, followed by team-mate Daniella Uy on 225. Malaysia’s Siti Zulaikha Shaari completed the podium finish with 233.
