THE audience was treated to a spectacular performances at the first ever Cabaran Skor Dashing Neon Futsal regional kick-off competition at Sports Planet, Kota Damansara recently.
Thirty-two teams put their best foot forward at the dimmed arena and team Versus 5 (B) stole the limelight after winning just 2 - 1 over Versus 5 (A) in the central region kick-off finals.
The Dashing For Men event was organised by Wipro Unza Sdn Bhd and teams played against each other in 11-minute round-robin matches. Each group winner then proceeded to the 15-minute-long knock-off matches.
Players from each team were dressed in different coloured reflector vests that glowed under the ultraviolet light.
Team Versus 5 (B) will join other region winners in semi-finals and final futsal competition on Dec 8 at Sports Planet, Kota Damansara.
Wipro Unza marketing manager Dwarakanath Ayenger said the company wanted to further promote thisnew spin on futsal.
“Futsal is popular among Malaysians and we wanted to give it a different twist,” he said.
Dwarakanath said the competition was of great significance to Dashing’s tag line — “the peak of confidence”.
“No one had ever tried neon futsal before and this showcases our confidence in the event,” he said.
“I received a lot of comments from the players and while most found it challenging, they were excited about the game,” he said, adding that the players were asking about the next edition of neon futsal.
The winner of this competition will get RM20,000 worth of prizes including a trip to ESPN studios in Singapore.
