SUZANN Pettersen of Norway is passionate about giving back to society and has promised to give US$200 for each birdie she makes in the ongoing Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.
And the world No. 8 is definitely on a birdie binge.
Pettersen, who started the day in a tie for 39th spot, made the biggest progress with a sizzling seven-under 64 yesterday.
Pettersen, who opened with a 71 on Thursday, made a 20-footer birdie putt on the 16th en route to finishing with a two-day aggregate of seven-under 135 for a share of third with Japan’s Mika Miyazato and Momoko Ueda and Lizette Salas of the United States.
The 31-year-old was in Mozambique recently to see for herself how the money raised from her charity event – the Suzann Pro Challenge – was used by Right To Play.
She was certainly pleased as punch to have finished bogey-free for the day.
“I felt like I just had to flush through a round of golf after a long week in Africa. I have been feeling really good with my putter, starting in Alabama a few weeks ago,” said Pettersen, who hails from Oslo.
“It’s just continuing. I feel like I can be aggressive, trust my instinct, just really try to push every green with a lot of confidence.
“I had a solid round today. Made a lot of birdies.”
This is Suzann’s third time playing in the event and she’s happy to be in contention going into the weekend.
“My game has been feeling right there but I have not been able to fire on all cylinders at the same time. Today was nice to get a low round,” she said.
“I like it here even though it is hot and humid. I always enjoy coming to Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Different types of grass here.
“Friendly people, good food and great accommodations. Overall, a very good week for us.”
