KUALA LUMPUR: A former taxi driver has been slapped with three charges of forcing a woman to perform oral sex on him, and molesting and robbing her, in his taxi.
M. Saravanan, 28, who is a repeat offender, claimed trial to all charges before Sessions Court judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid here Wednesday.
In the first charge, Saravanan, who is from Sungai Besi here, was accused of forcing a 29-year-old assistant manager to perform oral sex on him and swallowing his semen, an offence under Section 377C of the Penal Code.
If convicted, he can be jailed between five and 30 years and can be whipped.
In the second charge, he was accused of molesting the woman's breasts, an offence under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
If convicted, he can be jailed up to 10 years, or fined, or whipped, or face any two of such punishments.
In the third charge, he was accused of robbing the woman of her mobile phone and RM500 in cash, which amounts to an offence under Section 392 of the same code.
If convicted, he can be jailed up to 14 years, and can be fined or whipped.
He was said to have committed all three offences in his taxi enroute from Jln P. Ramlee to Kenanga Point Condominium, Jln San Peng, here, at about 3.30am on March 6, this year.
Prosecuting was deputy public prosecutor S. Malini Anne, while Saravanan was not represented.
Malini said the prosecution would not be offering bail for the accused, as he had been convicted once for a similar offence, and was currently still facing two ongoing trials for similar offences.
"While on bail for those previous offences, he has committed an offence again.
"To prevent a repeat offence, and in the interest of public safety, we are not offering him bail," she said.
Saravanan asked the court for bail, saying he was no longer a taxi driver, and that he was the sole breadwinner for his family.
The court denied him bail and fixed Aug 3 for mention.
