TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP): Taiwan has issued a sea warning for Tropical Storm Aere and cautioned residents on the eastern and southern parts of the island to watch out for torrential rain.
Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau says the storm was 404 miles (650 kilometers) south of Taiwan's southern tip as of Monday morning, and was moving north at 11 miles
(18 kilometers) per hour.
The bureau says ships in the Bashi Channel off the southern coast should brace for the storm, and that heavy rain may hit eastern and southern Taiwan later in the day.
Aere lashed the northeastern Philippines on
Sunday, killing at least nine people and forcing more than 100,000 villagers to flee from farming towns threatened by landslides.
