Traffic snarl on Penang Bridge

BUTTERWORTH: A fatal accident on the Penang Bridge during the morning rush hour caused a massive traffic jam.

Mainland-bound vehicles backed up until the Jalan Udini roundabout and Queensbay Mall on the island following the 8.15am accident yesterday between a motorcycle and a stationery lorry at Km7 of the bridge.

The traffic jam lasted for about two hours, causing many people to be late for work.

The motorcyclist, identified as Leow Shen Kheong, 50, from Sungai Pinang, died on the spot when his machine rammed into the lorry which had broken down.Leow, who was working at a construction site in Butterworth, was on his way to work at the time of the incident. He leaves behind a wife, two daughters and a son.
