KUALA LUMPUR: EPF contributors have been urged to register for i-Akaun which will enable them to check their accounts online from January.
Employees Provident Fund public relations general manager Nik Affendi Jaafar said that by doing so, it would be easy to update nominees, especially with changes to members' status due to marriage, divorce or a child's birth.
“Failure to update the nominees can result in suffering for their loved ones,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Nik Affendi said members should check the names and ensure these were correctly spelt, as well as the MyKad numbers of their nominees.
Members can also choose to have their beneficiaries' particulars printed on their statement from Jan 1.
“To have their beneficiaries' particulars stated in the 2011 annual statement, members with existing nominations would need to fill up Borang KWSP 4C,” said Nik Affendi.
“As for new nominations, members would need to indicate the same in Borang KWSP 4.”
Both forms must be returned to the nearest EPF branch before Jan 31.
Employers also will have the convenience of registering new employees and checking the latter's contribution details online.
To sign up as an i-Akaun user, members need to register by obtaining the Activation Code at any EPF kiosk or EPF branch.
