Firefly promotes flight to Kuantan-KL commuters

FIREFLY is promoting its new route between Subang and Kuantan to bus commuters at Bus Terminal Makmur, Kuantan, as a fast and convenient mode of travelling.

Firefly staff will be distributing leaflets at Bus Terminal Makmur Kuantan until Dec 18 to promote the airline’s new route to bus commuters who regularly travel between Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur.

A commuter interviewed at the bus terminal, Basheer Ramli, was impressed by Firefly’s twice daily offerings which provided a convenient mode of traveling especially for day-trippers.

He said: “With a flight time of only 50 minutes, I can arrive refreshed in Subang. Web check-in facilities and special drop off counters for check-in baggage will allow me to reduce my waiting time at the airport and to spend more quality time at the destination. Firefly’s flight time on this route is also convenient for making work-related day trips.”

Firefly’s head of marketing and communications Angelina C. Fernandez said, “Why travel by road when you can fly? This is the message we are imparting to raise public awareness on our Kuantan – Subang services.

“Late last month, we were at the Gombak Toll Plaza in Kuala Lumpur raising awareness among motorists. Then we approached business travellers and later this month, we will approach government departments.”

Firefly, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, began operations in April 2007.

Currently, it operates a fleet of 12 ATR 72-500 turboprop out of Penang and Subang, connecting secondary destinations within the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle as well as providing air linkages between Malaysia and Singapore.

Firefly provides incredible value as well as convenient flight times and excellent service to its passengers. On the ATR 72-500, passengers are allowed 20kg check-in baggage allowance, provided complimentary in-flight refreshment, assigned seating and convenient city airports.

Firefly had also received numerous awards and recognition.

The most recent was on Nov 15 when Firefly was conferred “Superbrand” status.

In July 2011, Firefly managing director Datuk Eddy Leong was honoured for his outstanding leadership and presented the Global Leadership Award for Community Airline Sector.

Awards received last year include the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Value Airline of the Year award and the Green Initiative of the Year award by leaders in aviation in conjunction with the Doha Aviation Summit.

Firefly connects with the world through Facebook and Twitter.
