PETALING JAYA: Suara Perkasa, which is in hot soup over its Tahan Ka Siong Bawah ISA (Arrest Ka Siong Under the Internal Security Act) article, will have to face the Home Ministry again on Monday.
Its editor Amirudin Mohamad met with the ministry’s representatives on Friday for almost an hour to explain about their decision to print the article, the ministry said in a statement.
The newsletter, in its maiden publication, had front-paged an article demanding that the Government detain Deputy Education Minister and MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong under ISA for allegedly questioning Malay rights.
The publication is owned by Malay rights group Perkasa, which is led by Pasir Mas MP Datuk Ibrahim Ali.
The Ministry’s team was headed by acting deputy secretary-general (K) Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Radzi. Also present was the Ministry’s publications control and Quranic text division secretary Datuk Zaitun Ab Samad.
Perkasa claimed that Dr Wee should be arrested over his remarks on Mara scholarships.
It was previously reported that Dr Wee when questioning the Government’s plan to do away with overseas scholarships offered by the Public Service Department had also asked if Mara scholarships would also be scrapped.
Suara Perkasa’s article had received backlash from various quarters including Umno and MIC leaders while Dr Wee who denied he was questioning Malay rights, said he was not intimidated by Perkasa and was even contemplating taking legal action.
Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin had urged the Ministry to investigate Suara Perkasa for deliberately instigating hatred through its inflammatory article.
Khairy had previously labelled Ibrahim as a gedebe politik (political gangster) whom he said was an obstacle to 1Malaysia.
MIC central working committee member S. Vell Paari had called for Ibrahim to be detained under the ISA for being a racist.
