PETALING JAYA: Port Klang state assemblyman Badrul Hisham Abdullah (pic) has joined Umno, six months after he quit PKR to become an Independent.
He submitted his membership application form to Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday, witnessed by the party’s supreme council at Janda Baik.
Badrul, 50, left PKR on Oct 29 last year. Barisan Nasional now is represented by 21 state assemblymen in Selangor.
He said he joined Umno to reinforce the party and Barisan because matters pertaining to the development, economy, welfare and religion in the state had to be addressed.
“The Pakatan Rakyat which sought to accomplish only their political goals have caused the Selangor people to be split. We need to strengthen Umno to be able to serve the people better,” said Badrul.
