KUALA LUMPUR: The countdown is on for American Idol Kelly Clarkson’s (pic) much-awaited concert at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium this Sunday, which kicks off her Asian tour.
Fans need not worry that the airport closures in Europe will affect the concert as Clarkson, who has won Grammys for her multi-platinum album Breakaway, will be flying in from Australia.
“After her final Australian show in Perth today, Kelly Clarkson will fly straight to Kuala Lumpur on Friday. There are no issues of volcanic ash or flight cancellations.
“The concert is ready to go and we are expecting over 15,000 fans,” said organiser Galaxy Group spokesman Bonor Seen.
Seen said Clarkson would be in top form during her concert, with her vocal chords “well rested”.
She is expected to have a two-day rest in Malaysia with a free-and-easy schedule, with sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur being on top of the singer’s list of to-dos, he added.
Following the theme of Clarkson being the first winner of the hit American reality show, her support acts in Kuala Lumpur will be winners of local reality shows Jaclyn Victor from Malaysian Idol and Suki from One in a Million.
Clarkson is also scheduled to perform in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and China.
Tickets for the concert are being snapped up fast with Clarkson’s first appearance in Malaysia attracting the masses.
Presented by Hotlink and organised by the Galaxy Group, Clarkson’s All I Ever Wanted Tour Live In Malaysia 2010 is scheduled for this Sunday at the stadium.
Doors open at 7.30pm. Visit axcess.com.my or call hotline 03-7711 5000 for tickets.
