CELCOM Axiata Berhad is adding to the joy of Christmas by creating a ‘Winter Wonderland’ in Kuching.
A tent covering an area of 100ftx60ft featuring a snowy atmosphere with man-made luminous trees, penguins, show bears and magical winter creatures is part of Celcom’s Xmas carnival.
The carnival is located behind the Dewan Masyarakat along Jalan Padungan in Kuching and is open from tomorrow onwards until Jan 2 from 5pm till 11pm.
Entrance into the carnival is free but a fee of RM5 per person will be charged for those who wish to enter the ‘Winter Wonderland’.
Another way to enter is to
simply purchase a special bundled prepaid pack at only RM15 consisting of a prepaid starter pack plus reload worth RM10 or reload of RM30 for existing Celcom customers.
For each purchase of the bundled pack or RM30 reload, customers will receive five tickets into the ‘Winter Wonderland’.
On top of that, customers will be entitled to a lucky draw comprising prizes of RM100 reload for the first 30 winners and RM50 reloads for the next 60 winners.
Outside, visitors are sure to be wowed by a 70-foot tall giant Christmas tree which will be illuminated by over 60,000 LEDs.
There will also be six winter huts to visit, in which Celcom and other sponsors would be showcasing their promotions.
The carnival will have lots of activities to entertain visitors including carolling, an appearance by Santa Claus, musical performances, cosplay and more.
Those who want to make a Christmas wish can do so at the wishing well at the centre of the carnival. They can write down their wishes on plaques and hang them around the well. Donations in kind for the Sarawak Children Cancer Society can also be placed inside the well.
Celcom’s chief regional officer for Sabah and Sarawak Jefri Ahmad Tambi said the carnival was a community project of Celcom to spread the joy of Christmas to the people of Sarawak.
“Celcom is a brand name embraced by all, regardless of race, age and religion, and we are always looking forward to celebrating the different festivals with our loyal customers. This is the fourth consecutive year Celcom is bringing festive cheer to people in Kuching.
“Celcom covers 98% of Sarawak’s population with its base stations and we believe that this carnival is a way of showing our appreciation for their support,” he told reporters yesterday.
The lighting of the Christmas tree will done on Dec 18. The Xmas carnival is also jointly organised by Sunlit Advertising, Eastern Alliance and Infolink Advertising Sdn Bhd and supported by Kuching City South Council.
