A fitting tribute to outstanding women

KUALA LUMPUR: Nine prominent women were presented with the Tribute to Women Malaysia award for their outstanding achievements in various fields.

The recipients, who received their awards from the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, were handpicked under nine different categories and had contributed much in their individual fields.

The winners were Datuk Ruby Khong for the Golden Heart category, Sia Ling Ling (for the Physically Challenged category), Datin Freida Pilus (Education), Tijah Yok Chopil (Humanity), Datuk Faridah Merican (Arts and Culture), Dr Suhaila Mohamed (Science and Technology), Datuk Khatijah Ahmad (Corporate Entrepreneur), Datuk Azlina Haji Che Abdullah (Private Sector Entrepreneur) and Datuk Nicol Ann David (Sports).

“The tribute is a recognition and a way of honouring our iconic women who had served as a source of inspiration to other women in the country,” said Rosmah, adding, “It is undeniable that our women have done their fair share of contributing to the economy, social development, community and had not forgotten their family.”

Tribute to Women Malaysia producer and director Mahani Awang said support should be given to highly-spirited and successful women as they would inspire others.

The event was jointly organised by Yayasan Mahkota and MSP Communication Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.
