KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has made a U-turn from its earlier stand to abolish the New Economic Policy (NEP) by urging the Government to maintain the 30% quota for bumiputras, said MCA Youth.
Information and Communication Bureau chairman Lee Wei Kiat said the latest stand by PAS Youth showed they were opportunists trying to score political mileage.
“Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had said many times that he would abolish the NEP if he successfully formed the Govern-ment,” Lee pointed out in a statement yesterday.
“Thus, the call from PAS Youth to maintain the quota does not reflect any sincerity from Pakatan Rakyat to the public.”
Lee also challenged Anwar and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to declare their stand clearly, and to explain to voters the stand taken by PAS Youth.
