KUALA LUMPUR: The first private Chinese radio station in Malaysia 988 launched a rebranding exercise yesterday.
As one of the media subsidiaries of Star Media Group, 988 has stepped into a new era of broadcast entertainment by revamping its content and music programming style in line with the changing times.
The station plans to do this by dividing programming content into two major segments: information/news and music.
“From morning till noon, the three programmes lined up will emphasise on current affairs, news updates or interactive topics. The 988 drama slot will remain the same from noon to 12.30pm, as it is still popular with listeners. After 12.30pm, the focus will be on music and entertainment.
“We promise to give value content and the best music in town to listeners as well as the fastest and up-to-date news,” said 988 programming director Tan Chia Yong.
Radio listeners can also look forward to more interactive sessions with listeners on current affairs and the hottest topics of the season.
The station has changed its tag line from 988 Sounds of Vibrance (You Sheng You Se) to 988 Best to Listen (Zui Hao Ting). 988 will also be introducing new deejays and a new station jingle.
988 CEO Wong Lai Ngo officially unveiled the station’s new logo at the launch yesterday.
