PETALING JAYA: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) have decided to ban the national women’s football team from international competitions next year.
The move comes in the wake of the two huge defeats they have suffered in the ongoing Laos SEA Games.
The Malaysian team lost 0-14 to Thailand and 0-8 to Vietnam.
FAM deputy president Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said after a meeting at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday that the women’s football and futsal teams would not be allowed to compete internationally, except in friendlies, in the future.
“After two big defeats, which are an embarrassment to Malaysia, the priority now is on development programmes to strengthen the women’s football and futsal teams,” he said — Bernama
