MALACCA: A three-metre-long crocodile weighing 200kg was captured after it wandered off from a nearby swamp here.
The Fire and Rescue Department caught the reptile outside a shoplot in Jalan Pasar Borong, Batu Berendam, here on Wednesday night.
Jalan Kubu Fire Department and Rescue Operations Officer Isa Ahmad said the crocodile had climbed up the stairs to the first floor of the shophouse.
The department received a call from a member of the public at 10.54pm, he said.
“Five firemen rushed to the location and found the crocodile on the stairs of the building,” he said.
“We managed to capture the crocodile after it got stuck in a drain outside the shophouse while trying to get away.”
The crocodile was transferred to the Malacca Zoo yesterday.
