KULAI: Tanjung Piai community leaders turned up in full force to support MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting in his campaign in several areas, including Kulai New Village, yesterday.
Ong, a four-term MP for the Tanjung Piai constituency, is contesting in the Kulai parliamentary seat in the coming elections.
Ong has done so much for us. We had to come to show our appreciation for his hard work and effort during his years with us.
Although we will miss him as our MP, we understand that he has a mission and vision for the people of Kulai, said Kukup villager Lim Thiam Hock.
Another leader, Koh Jit Guan from Pontian, said Ong had brought much development to the constituency.
With his outstanding track record and hard work, we believe that the people of Kulai will enjoy a better living environment, he said.
Tan Eng Meng of Pekan Nenas thanked Ong for setting up two lifelong learning centres in the area.
The villagers are able to enhance their knowledge and gain new skills through the programmes organised by the centres, he said, adding that thousands of villagers had attended the activities there.
Ong said he was touched by the support and encouragement of the people in Tanjung Piai even though he was not contesting there.
I will remember this forever. Thank you. Although I am not contesting in Tanjung Piai, I will continue to serve the people there as the MCA president. he said.
Anything I can do for the community, I will continue to do, he said.
Ong said Kulai was nearby and he would return to Tanjung Piai whenever the community needed him.
Besides, Ong said that he has trained two capable leaders Wee Jeck Seng (Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat) and Tang Nai Soon (Pekan Nenas state seat) to continue serving the people in the constituency.
With their experience and competence, I can assure you that they will give excellent service to the community if they are elected. Please support them, he said.
Earlier, various associations and organisations representing hawkers, traders, entrepreneurs, taxi drivers and owners in Kulai pledged their support to Ong and the three Barisan Nasional candidates Chun Yoon Fook (Senai), Cheong Chin Liang (Bukit Batu) and Kamaruzaman Ali (Bukit Permai).
