KUALA LUMPUR: Delia Arnold upset top seed Donna Urquhart of Australia in the final to win the NSC Super Satellite No. 5 squash tournament at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
It was a timely Christmas gift for Delia, who won 11-9, 14-12, 11-3 in 31 minutes.
It was Delia’s second NSC Satellite title for the year and for her efforts she received US$1,520 while Urquhart took home US$1,064.
World No. 32 Delia said that she was surprised to chalk up a straight sets win against the Australian.
“She gave me a good fight in the first two sets.
“However, in the third set, she ran out of stamina.
“I am happy to have won my last tournament of the year,’’ said Delia.
“I am also delighted to win all the four matches in the tournament without dropping a set,’’ said Delia, who won the NSC Satellite tournament in August by stunning World No. 14 Rebecca Chiu of Hong Kong in the final.
In the men’s competition, second seed Matthew Karwalski of Australia came back from a set down to beat Andrew Wagih Shoukry of Egypt 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 3-11, 11-7 in the final.
