DESARU Coast is set to up the ante for luxury travel within the region, with premium resorts, engaging activities and lifestyle attractions for the entire family.
This luxury destination, located on Johor’s east coast, will be developed in three phases with phase one in progress and expected to be completed by 2015. When completed, it will cover over 1,600ha along 17km of beachfront overlooking the South China Sea.
A place for leisure and business, Desaru Coast will feature four top-end resorts: Aman Country Club and Aman Villas, Datai Desaru, Sheraton Resort and Plantation Hotel.
The Sheraton, a five-star beachfront resort, will be integrated with a convention centre fully equipped to host meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (Mice) and social events, in order to ease accessibility for guests and participants.
Adjacent to this resort will be a family-friendly establishment, the Plantation Hotel, integrated with two water theme parks – the Ocean Quest (marine park) and Ocean Splash (water park).
The Plantation Hotel will also offer rooms with a panel looking directly at a marine pool in Ocean Quest, and a dinning experience surrounded by marine life.
These two theme parks, which are to be operated by Themed Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd, offer different attractions.
Ocean Quest will have educational and interactive activities while Ocean Splash promises to be more adventurous and exciting with a mix of water attractions, including the largest salt-water wave pool in Asia.
The Sheraton, Plantation Hotel and theme parks will all be linked up at The Riverwalk, which will become the heart of Desaru Coast. For those who are looking for a change in scenery, this walkway aims to capture the ambience of canal-side cities like Venice, Italy and San Antonio, the United States – with retail, restaurants and entertainment outlets along the river – and will also house a Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary School.
The developer, Destination Resort and Hotel (DRH), was established last year by Khazanah Nasional Berhad and aims to encompass a seamless experience for locals and tourists alike.Adding to all of the above, at both ends of the 17km beachfront, there will be a golfers paradise.
Tee-off with two championship golf courses: The Els Club will have a 27-hole Coast Course designed by former world No.1 golfer, Ernie Els, while the Valley Course will be an 18-hole course designed by Vijay Singh. Troon Golf, a world acclaimed luxury resort golf facility manager will be managing both courses.
Aficionados who can’t get enough of the courses can immerse themselves in a 360° view of the manicured golf courses at the Coast Course and Valley Course Residences by UEM Land Holdings Bhd.
The Aman Country Club and Aman Villas, Els Residence, and Datai Desaru will also be located within and in close proximity to the Coast Course.
