Sarawak head in car crash

KUCHING: Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng (pic) escaped unhurt in a road accident here yesterday.

The Mercedes Benz in which he was travelling with his 10-year-old foster son and a bodyguard, was involved in a head-on collision with another car in Jalan Mandu at about 11am, Kuching Public Order and Traffic chief DSP Awang Kasuma Jaya said.

The foster son, bodyguard and driver also escaped unhurt, he added.

The 25-year-old driver of the other car and his 20-year-old girlfriend were injured in the face and hands and had been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital, he said.

DSP Awang Kasuma said Abang Muhammad Salahuddin was returning to the Astana, his official residence, from his farm in Lundu, about 100km from Kuching, when the accident happened. – Bernama.
