PENANG: Cinta, directed by Kabir Bahtia, won four awards, including Best Film, at the 20th Malaysia Film Festival here last night.
The film, produced by Grand Brilliance Sdn Bhd, also won awards for Best Supporting Actor (Datuk Rahim Razali), Best Editing (Akash Singh) and Best Screenplay (Mira Mustaffa).
Best Supporting Actress award went to Azean Irdawaty for the film Waris Jari Hantu.
The director of Waris Jari Hantu, Suhaimi Baba, won the Best Director Award.
Mohd Syafie Naswip won the Best Child Actor award for his role in the film Mukhsin directed by Yasmin Ahmad.
The Best Film and Best Director winners received their awards from the Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas, who was accompanied to the event by his wife Toh Puan Majimor Shariff.
Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim and Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon also attended the glittering awards presentation ceremony at the Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra in Universiti Sains Malaysia.
