JOHOR BARU: Durian lovers savour a buffet spread for only RM15 featuring several types of durian including XO, D24 and Musang King at a stall near the Dedap market in Taman Johor Jaya here.
Stall owner Ady Tan, 41, said since the durian season began in early April, he had sold more than 100 baskets weighing 60kg each daily.
“The hot weather does not affect durian sales as Malaysians just love the fruit.
“Customers usually patronise my stall with their friends and family as it is a rare chance for them to try so many different types of durian at one go.
“The secret to enjoying durians without worrying about ‘heatiness’ is to drink loads of water afterwards,” he said, adding that customers usually bring their own water when enjoying the buffet.
He added some kampung durians would sell for as low as RM5 while the more expensive ones like Musang King costs about RM20 to RM25 per kg.
“We usually hear of durian buffets in Kuala Lumpur but in this area, my stall is the only one that offers such treats,” he said.
His stall opens at 7am.
“The Musang King durians originate from Gua Musang, Kelantan and customers usually look for Sultan King durians for its yellow and thick flesh,” he said.
Tan added his durians come from Bentong, Pahang.
