FRIENDS linked to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat leadership have approached Kota Belud MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan and offered him a big sum to cross over.
Abdul Rahman said that it was hypocritical for PKR whose election manifesto promised voters a corruption-free government to resort to such tactics.
How can they promise a government free of corruption if the basis of the formation of such a government is through corrupt means?
I have been approached twice last week and the week before. Both times, I was approached by my friends who are themselves close to the PKR leadership.
They offered me a big sum to jump, he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.
On Wednesday, Abdul Rahman had disclosed in the Dewan Rakyat when debating the motion of thanks on the royal address that he had been promised a Cabinet post as well as money to jump over to PKR.
His admission to being approached by PKR followed PBS Batu Sapi MP Datuk Edmund Chongs confession that he had been asked to switch.
Abdul Rahman declined to say how much he was offered, only that if he had accepted it, two or three future generations would enjoy an easy life.
He also called on PKR to stop resorting to such dirty tactics to rope in Sabah Barisan MPs in order to form the Federal Government.
PKR de facto leader (Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim has been announcing a series of deadlines for him to form a government.
I think hes getting more desperate as the next deadline, which he puts as Sept 16, approaches.
He should stop offering bribes to cross over, he said.
Abdul Rahman said Sabah MPs should give Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi time until August to resolve the issues they had brought up in Parliament.
Some of the requests we raised such as more posts in government-linked companies and the central administration can be implemented immediately, he said.
