MOBILE solutions provider, HarvestNet Sdn Bhd, plans to roll out 100,000 Money in the Mobile (MoMo) smart cards within four months, its business director Nyou Wei Fung said.
During the same period, HarvestNet planned to equip 200 outlets with the payment-enabled gadget, he said, adding that the potential outlets included cafes, restaurants, entertainment outlets and convenience shops.
MoMo, which uses Japanese technology, is a small-sized smart card that functions as a mobile virtual wallet to be used for cashless payment, ticketing, privileges redemption and customer relationship management.
HarvestNet jointly developed the card with its partner NEC Soft Ltd.
Nyou said the card would be about one-sixth the size of a normal credit card and could be used in most mobile devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, MP3 players and wearable accessories.
It uses a contactless integrated chip technology or radio frequency identification developed by Sony, he said at the card launch in Petaling Jaya on Thursday.
Nyou said the MoMo cards were targeted at those aged between 18 and 29 years.
He said HarvestNet was currently in talks to roll out the system with three parties in Malaysia - a local telecommunications provider, a Government agency and an education provider.
