Transit passengers at KLIA can now pre-book city tour via website

BOOKINGS for the Showcase KL Transit tour can now be secured online in advance.

The Showcase KL Transit Tour is a tourism product specifically targeting transit passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) who have five hours or more time to spare, by giving them a glimpse of the city’s attractions.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib launched the website www.showcasekl.com which enables people from around the world to make prior bookings before arriving at KLIA.

Previously, bookings for the tour which has been available since 2010, could only be made at its ticketing counter at the satellite building terminal at the arrival hall in KLIA.

“Since its inception, we have had more than 500 transit passengers from around the world experiencing the tour and the feedback from them has been very good. Many expressed interest in visiting Malaysia in the future.

“With the Showcase KL ticket, transit passengers are entitled to a return pass on KLIA Express and one-day pass on Kuala Lumpur Hop- On Hop-Off double-decker tour bus that will take them around the city,” he said at the launch at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.

He also said the price would be maintained at RM95.

He said the price was competitive because other major airports’ transit tour packages cost more such as EUR39 (RM154) charged by Amsterdam airport, US$60 (RM183) by Seoul and Dubai airports and HKD270 (RM105) by Hong Kong airport.

“So, with the Showcase KL selling at RM95 (US$31 or EUR24) and offering a luxury high-speed train service and stopping at 30 attractions in the KL city centre, it is considered very attractive and affordable for our transit visitors,

“Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is confident and satisfied that the tour is running efficiently and will continue to actively promote the tour globally, including promotional campaigns.

“This transit tour package has great potential in promoting KL through an experiential method,” he said before moving on to chair the third Kuala Lumpur Tourism Development Council meeting to formulate the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Master Plan — the guide to the future tourism development in Kuala Lumpur.

Showcase KL is a product initiated by DBKL in collaboration with other government agencies and the private sector including Tourism Malaysia, Immigration Department, Malaysia Airports Berhad, KLIA Express and KL Hop On Hop Off.
