Ready to serve at all times

THE St John Ambulance Malaysia’s (SJAM) pre-hospital care unit was launched recently at the SJAM Academy, Cheras by Lord Prior of Order of St John Professor Anthony Roger Mellows from the UK.

The main objective of the unit is to educate students on the theoretical, practical and economical aspects of pre-hospital care or Emergency Medical System (EMS).

The academy will also provide practical training for students of the Diploma of Pre-Hospital (Paramedic) programme from the Open University Malaysia (OUM), jointly organised by the training wing of SJAM with OUM.

Thank you: Low (right) presenting a token of appreciation to Mellows.

“The academy was established largely with the financial support and encouragement of many corporate and government organisations,” said SJAM chief-in-staff Datuk Lee Hoo Teong.

SJAM Academy is housed on the first floor of a shoplot located in Jalan Mutiara Raya, Cheras. It is equipped with computerised mannequins, a training room and a meeting room.

SJAM commander-in-chief Datuk Low Bin Tick said: “SJAM has been around for many years and we hope for a better appreciation of our services and committment.

“We always honour and value a person’s life for it is very precious,” he added.
