Celebrating a century of success

RHB Bank, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, plans to expand in the region which it sees as having strong economic growth.

RHB Bank Bhd managing director Johari Abdul Muid said the bank had plans to expand as it considered itself to be a dynamic company.

“We will not only consider expanding in the northern region but also in other strong growth regions,” he said during the 100th anniversary celebration at the Hotel Equatorial Penang recently.

The hi-tea celebration, attended by some 350 guests, was held as a gesture of the bank’s appreciation to its customers for their support through the years.

RHB chairman Tan Sri Azlan Zainol said in Penang alone, the bank had established 12 branches with 360 employees.

RHB Bank regional director (northern region) Yong Kin Leng said the bank had come a long way from being the first local bank in then Malaya to become the country’s fourth largest financial institution.

He said July 15 marked the bank’s first century of growth and success.

“These success and achievements would not have been possible without the long-standing support of our customers throughout the years,” he said.

There were also a stage performance and cake-cutting ceremony during the hi-tea.
