FT the first to submit bid to host 2018 Sukma

PUTRAJAYA: Federal Territories chef-de-mission for the 2013 Sukma organised by the National Sports Council in Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Hassim Ismail, said FT have submitted their bid to host the 2018 Sukma.

“Though Johor and Perak are also said to be interested, they have yet to submit their bid but we have already submitted ours,” he told reporters at the flag handing ceremony for the Federal Territories contingent by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor yesterday.

As part of efforts to boost the bid, Hashim said a number of stadiums and sports complexes would be build in Putrajaya for training and competition because athletes from the Federal Territories do not have many places available for training.

As for the 2013 Sukma held in and around Kuala Lumpur from June 28 to July 7, Federal Territories will be sending 419 athletes, 29 managers, 45 coaches and 76 officials and have targeted 18 gold medals from the 20 sports contested. — Bernama
