THE Seri Setia state seat was the focus of attention from top leaders on both sides of the political divide recently, as the GE13 campaigning intensifies.

PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Kampung Lindungan, Petaling Jaya to a rousing welcome on the morning of the Labour Day public holiday.

He gave a short ceramah where he took jabs at former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, before introducing Kelana Jaya parliamentary candidate Wong Chen and Seri Setia incumbent Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad to the crowd and asking the people to continue giving their support to the PKR candidates.

At the request of the Kelana Jaya PKR women’s wing, Anwar sportingly made teh tarik on the stage, much to the amusement of the crowd who gathered at the open space opposite the Kontena Nasional building.

Many people scrambled for a photo opportunity with Anwar before he made his way out to another function.

At night on the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin turned up for a ceramah at the Desa Mentari flats in PJS 6 to give support to Barisan Nasional Seri Setia candidate Datuk Abdul Halim Samad.

Muhyiddin spoke lengthily to the large crowd at a field about how Pakatan Rakyat would not be able to fulfill the promises in their manifesto even if they took over the government.

Also there to lend support was MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, who was accompanied by Kelana Jaya Barisan candidate Loh Seng Kok and Subang Jaya candidate Gan Meng Foo.

The Subang Jaya (N31) and Seri Setia (N32) seats fall under the Kelana Jaya (P104) parliamentary seat.
