GE13: Top five picks for Selangor MB post

SELANGOR Barisan Nasional deputy election director Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed has indicated that five candidates have been shortlisted as the candidate for the post of Selangor mentri besar if Barisan wrests back the state from Pakatan.

Some inside sources from Barisan say that Datuk Muhammad Bushro Mat Johor, from Umno is one of the preferred candidates.

Muhammad Bushro is also the Selangor Barisan election secretary for GE13 and is said to be a sincere and dedicated leader.

Barisan component parties are also able to work with him.

Some of the other names are Datuk Subahan Kamal, who is contesting for the Taman Templer state seat, Datuk Ahmad Nawawi M. Zin (Batu Tiga), Abdul Wahab Ibrahim (Taman Medan) and Datuk Shamsudin Lias (Sungai Burong).

The possibility of winning back Selangor seems more attainable after Barisan Nasional adopted a more “bold and drastic” act and named 80% of new faces as candidates for state and parliament seats in GE13.

The move to ensure victory is part of Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s transformation programme.

The candidates, with renewed resolve after Nomination Day, are also going all out to recapture the state.

“New candidates will face many challenges. Our strength lies in the fact that Barisan listens to the people, especially the young and we are ready to meet their expectations,” Mohd Zin was quoted as saying,

It has now been more than a week since Nomination Day and the Selangor Barisan machinery is all set to campaign even harder leading to polling day.

The media, Barisan supporters and the public are all being kept busy keeping track of the candidates and forming their own conclusions.

Pakatan is also sitting up and taking notice, aware that they cannot take the people’s support for granted any more.

They are concerned about Barisan’s “must win” mission.

It is said that Barisan also has the exco line-up ready, comprising the old and new, should it recapture Selangor.

As for Mohd Zin, the Sepang parliament seat candidate said: “We have dynamic and qualified candidates for all 56 state seats in Selangor.

“We are ready to take over the governance of the state from Pakatan. Our manifesto is in line with the people’s needs.”
