PETALING JAYA: It will be back to business when national squash No. 2 ranked Low Wee Wern returns to action in the Greenwich Open tomorrow.

The world No. 7, sidelined by a hamstring injury since her quarter-final exit from the Women’s World Open last month at the Cayman Islands, will play a qualifier in the first round.

The petite Wee Wern has fully recovered and is raring to get back into the fray.

With a few new sponsorship deals coming her way early this year, in particularly Harrow, with a racquet deal for two years, Wee Wern is more fired up than ever to make an impression in her first tournament of the year.

The only drawback is that Wee Wern has a terrible record playing in the US, mostly losing in the first round.

If she wins this time, she’ll be probably face the experienced Madeline Perry of Ireland in the quarter-finals, with the winner going on to face top seed Raneem El Weleily in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, over in Detroit, national No. 1 Ong Beng Hee will have to navigate his way past a host of talented Egyptians if he aims to retain his Motor City Open title.

The 32-year-old Beng Hee surprisingly won last year’s title by beating Mohamed El Shorbagy and Hisham Ashour.

This time, the Penangite will take on a qualifier in the first round, before facing World Open runners-up Shorbagy in the quarter-finals.

If he gets past the on-form Egyptian, he’ll probably run into squash maestro Amr Shabana in the semi-finals, with either Karim Darwish of Omar Mosaad awaiting in the final.
