Mohd Ahsan tastes first victory in Super Series

INDONESIA’S Mohd Ahsan has finally come of age.

Yesterday, the 25-year-old Ahsan played superbly and showed impeccable command at the front court with former Olympic and world champion Hendra Setiawan to dump South Korean hotshots Lee Yong-dae-Ko Sung-hyun 21-15, 21-13 to win the men’s doubles title in the Maybank Malaysian Open badminton championships yesterday.

It was the soft-spoken Ahsan’s first Super Series title.

“My previous seven-year partnership with Bona (Septano) was going nowhere and after London Olympic Games, we split up. I am grateful to Hendra because I have certainly improved since teaming up with him,” said Ahsan.
