PETALING JAYA: Traffic was at a crawl at several areas along the North-South Expressway and the Karak Highway on the second day of Hari Raya.
Heavy rain, accidents and vehicle breakdowns contributed to traffic congestions at several areas.
A spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) reported slow-moving traffic at the northbound side of the NSE from Jelapang to Kuala Kangsar due to an accident at KM258.4 at 3.52pm.
“The right lane was blocked because of the accident,” he said, adding that traffic was slow from Bidor to Tapah and Gopeng due to the rain.
“South-bound traffic from Nilai to Seremban was slow-moving after a bus broke down at about 2pm.
“An accident at 3pm also contributed to the congestion,” he said.
The MHA spokesman also reported heavy traffic at the north-bound side of the NSE from Slim river to Sungkai due to two accidents.
“At KM355.5, there were five cars involved in a pile-up at about 11am.
“There was another accident at KM375.5 involving two cars,” he said.
At 3pm, PLUS Expressway Bhd tweeted that traffic was smooth from Slim River to Sungkai.
Traffic has been slow on the
east-bound side of Karak Highway as well, from the Gombak toll plaza to Genting Highlands since 11am.
Congestion at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex heading to Singapore was cleared at 5.30pm.
PLUS Expressway Bhd tweeted at 6.27pm that there was an accident at KM278.6 from Seremban to Nilai and advised road users to drive carefully.
