Do your part by adopting a dog this Sunday

Help needed: Lucky is in urgent need of sponsorship to undergo treatment to be able to walk again.

CODY the six-month old mix-breed puppy loves nothing more than a cuddle and a hug.

He is also very friendly and alert and would make a good companion dog for a family with young children.

Canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) adoption coordinator Christine Lai said Cody would be one of the dogs up for adoption at Jaya One shopping complex, Section 13, Petaling Jaya this Sunday.

The event will be held from 10am to 6pm at Block NB1, which faces Station 1 and Old Town White Coffee.

“Cody is good with children especially little boys and we are hoping he will be adopted by a family with young children,’’ said Lai, adding that Cody had been neutered and vaccinated.

Besides Cody, Lai said there would be about 20 dogs and puppies up for adoption at the adoption drive.

Lai said MDDB would also be seeking sponsorship for the veterinary care of a puppy suffering from spinal chord injury at the event.

“The puppy is believed to have been hit on the back but luckily the spinal column does not appear to be broken,’’ said Lai.

She said the puppy named Lucky was currently being treated at a veterinary clinic and may have to be there for a few months until it could walk again.

Lai said those who would like to donate in kind to MDDB could also drop off the items at the event.

“We need dog and puppy food, cat and kitten food, pet shampoo, old newspapers and towels, bleach and soap,’’ said Lai.
