20 years jail for two Indian nationals for causing death of Indonesian worker

JOHOR BARU: Two Indian nationals were sentenced to 20 years jail each by a High Court Monday after they were found guilty of causing the death of an Indonesian contract worker.

The decision was made by High Court judge Datuk Abdul Halim Aman here on Nov 26.

The two men Rashpall Singh, 26, and Varinder Singh, 24, pleaded guilty to an amended charge under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The offence occurred at the site of Wong and Wong Construction at around 12.30am at Bukit Kempas here on April 4 last year.

The duo admitted to causing the death of Nordaeng (age unknown) at the site following an argument.

Judge Abdul Halim said the sentence is to commence from the date of arrest.
