ALTHOUGH it has been over a decade since Carol Lee had a diamond tiara placed on her head, that has not stopped the former beauty queen from participating in another pageant contest next year.
The 39-year-old news presenter was picked recently to represent Malaysia in the Mrs Universe 2013 world finals, where she hopes to do the country proud.
“It is an honour to be chosen for this pageant and I am glad I have ample time to plan and brush up on my catwalk and posture,” said Lee, the mother of a five-year-old girl.
Lee said with 10 months in hand, she will be utilising her time carefully to prepare for the competition scheduled to take place in Bulgaria.
Besides putting aside time to prepare, Lee whose day job includes running a children enrichment centre, said she would also be campaigning for abused children and women as it was a cause close to her heart.
She intends to work with the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry as she felt they are the ones who would know best where help needs to be channelled.
The former Miss Malaysia Chinatown knows that her path ahead will not be an easy one but she is keeping up her optimism and is determined to do well.
“There will be challenging times, but I’m confident in myself,” said the 173cm-tall Lee, who promised to also promote Malaysia and foster goodwill with the other participating nations during the competition.
ERM Marketing Sdn Bhd managing director Alex Liu, who crowned Lee, said she was not only talented in her own way but also had a strong passion for children’s welfare.
“After three interviews, my team decided that Lee was the best candidate to represent our country out of the 76 entries we received,” said Liu during the crowning ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur recently.
The event was attended by her family, close friends and sponsors where they were treated to an afternoon tea and a children’s ballet performance.
