PUTRAJAYA: The Public Service Commission (PSC) will decide on the punishment to be meted out on Health Ministry director-general Datuk Seri Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman and Wan Syarifah Nooraazmanita Wan Hassan who were fined for committing khalwat recently.
Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa, as reported by Bernama yesterday, said it could be in the form of a warning letter, fine, curtailment of emoluments and demotion.
“The couple has been ordered to take leave pending PSC's decision,” he said.
Dr Ali, however, did not dismiss the possibility that a new Health director-general would be appointed.
Both Dr Hasan, 56, and Wan Syarifah Nooraazmanita, 36, also an officer with the ministry, admitted to being in “close proximity” at the Pullman Putrajaya hotel here at 2.18am on Wednesday.
Dr Hasan was fined RM3,000 and Wan Syarifah Nooraazmanita, RM2,900.
Both paid the fine.
Meanwhile, Dr Hasan's duties would be carried out by the ministry's deputy director-general (medical) until a decision was made, said its secretary-general Datuk Kamarul Zaman Md Isa in a statement.
