Seven honoured with Tokoh Pemenang awards

SEVEN dignitaries from the state were all smiles as they received the award for the Tokoh Persatuan Melayu Pulau Pinang (Pemenang).

Among the recipients were USM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Omar Osman, who received the Tokoh Pendidikan (Education) award.

“I feel very honoured to receive this award today. I am happy that they recognise that higher education is important,” he said after receiving the award.

“I hope that Pemenang continues to highlight the importance of raising the standards of education.”

The other recipients were lawyer Datuk Sulaiman Abdullah, lawyer Abdul Fareed Ghafoor and teacher Fatimah Yusof for Tokoh Kemasyarakatan (Social Welfare), teacher and lyricist Ahmad Ramli for Tokoh Seni/Budaya (Arts and Culture), businessman Datuk Mohd Noor Hussain for Tokoh Usahawan (Entrepreneurship), and Islamic education teacher Abdul Aziz Salleh for Tokoh Agama (Religion).

They each received certificates and medals from Pemenang.

The awards were presented in conjunction with Pemenang’s Maal Hijrah Open House celebrations yesterday.
