Wira leader Hafiza wants to extend lead

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Hafiza Rofa is looking forward to extending his lead in the Wira standings of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships in the fourth round in Putrajaya this weekend.

Despite competing in only his first full season, the 15-year-old has taken the field by surprise, chalking up two victories and overshadowing more experienced riders.

Hafiza of Faito YSP Racing is the joint leader with Nurahmad Fariznazreen (Motul Yamaha YY Pang Racing) on 50 points while Zulsyafiz Rosli (MOS Malaysia Racing) is in third place on 44 points.

“This is my debut season and what we have accomplished is simply incredible,” said Hafiza, who is pleased with his opening round win in Kangar and in the third round in Kuala Terengganu last week.

“This is a great team as everyone puts in a lot of effort and sacrifices. Almost every week, we have training and testing sessions either in Subang or Malacca.

“With all the hard work from everyone, it motivates me to keep up my good run and I don’t want to disappoint my team.”
