AUCMS to offer more courses by September

STUDENTS can look forward to more choices of courses at the Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) in Kepala Batas, Penang, once four new faculties are introduced by September.

AUCMS president Datuk Dr Zainuddin Md Wazir said among the new faculties to be set up were sports science, medical business and management, hospitality and medical tourism, traditional and complementary medicine.

“We are still waiting for approval from the Federal Government and we hope to get it before September so that we can start the new courses,” he added.

He said currently there were about 2,500 students pursuing courses in areas of pharmacy, nursing and physiotherapy and enrolment was expected to double up once the new faculties were introduced.

There would be four intakes a year commencing January, April, July and October, Dr Zainuddin said after opening the AUCM’s arts and entrepreneurs aspirations programme called ‘Fiesta 2011’ on Friday.

He added that the state-of-the-art hospital, under construction at a 2ha plot, was expected to be completed next year and it would provide jobs for AUCMS graduates.
