Najib to celebrate GTP’s achievement at Putra Stadium

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will meet the rakyat on Sunday in an evening of star-studded performances to commemorate the first year achievements of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP).

Pre-event entertainment at the “Malam Transformasi Bersama Malaysia: Untukmu Malaysia” will kick off at 6pm at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, featuring performances by Amy Search, Hattan, Karen Kong and Aizat & Band.

Other notable celebrities who may also perform include Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Reshmonu, Suki Low and Daniel Lee.

GTP director of communications Alex Iskandar Liew said the Prime Minister was pleased with the GTP results and would like to personally share them with the people.

He said local artistes would also be sharing their views on the GTP with fans.

“There was a great deal of scepticism when the GTP was introduced in January 2010.

“But results from the various National Key Results Areas (NKRA) last year have been very encouraging and showed that improvements in the public delivery system were on track,” Liew said in a statement on Wednesday.

He added that the Government was pleasantly surprised that the NKRA targets had been achieved and in some cases surpassed.

“An International Performance Review Committee, comprising public service experts from Britain, Australia, the United States, Singapore and South Korea was set up early this year to ensure that the Government had an objective evaluation of the progress of GTP.

“The committee has commended the work and results achieved by the Government so far as well as provided constructive feedback,” Liew said, adding that the views were published in the GTP Annual Report 2010 which would also be made available to the public on Sunday.

Those planning to attend the event are encouraged to use public transport. Parking spaces are also available at the newly opened Integrated Transport Terminal Bandar Tasik Selatan (ITT-BTS).
