Grand final of 18-leg Prudential Astro Masters to be held in Phuket

THE first leg of the 18-leg Prudential Astro Masters golf championship will tee off at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam, Selangor on March 10.

Three new partners — Panasonic, Cross Creek and The Star — have also become part of the circuit, culminating with the grand final at the Red Mountain Country Club and Loch Palm Country Club in Phuket, Thailand from Sept 15 to 18.

Astro vice-president for media sales Anthony Yeap said the circuit has emerged as the biggest amateur golf championship in the country.

“The circuit was initiated in 1998. And this year will be the 14th season. Prudential Assurance are with us for the third year. We are also happy with support from the sponsors, without whom, the circuit will not be a success,’’ said Anthony.

“This is our third year with the circuit. It shows how much we value this partnership with Astro and the countless value we obtain by being associated with the event.

“We also found from our customers that golf has become increasingly popular with our customers which is why we have decided to return for the third year.

“The sponsorship of such sporting event also provides us with ample opportunities to further strengthen our brand presence across the country,’’ said Fiona.
