Cargo volume seen to remain flat

GEORGE TOWN: The combined cargo volume handled by KL International Airport and Penang International Airport is expected to remain flat this year, said Penang Air Freight Forwarders Association president P. Kalimuthu.

From January to August, total cargo handled at both airports stood at 568,601 tonnes compared with 597,704 tonnes a year ago, representing a decline of about 6%.

“We expect the fourth quarter, usually a busier period due to Christmas, to boost air cargo shipment, making up for the drop so far,” Kalimuthu told StarBiz.
