DAP to name candidate for Sibu by-election on April 27

KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP will announce its candidate for the Sibu by-election on April 27, two days after the Hulu Selangor by-election.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang, in a press conference here, however, declined to reveal the number of candidates the party has shortlisted.

Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also earlier said that PKR, PAS, DAP and the Sarawak National Party (SNAP) have agreed to form Sarawak Pakatan Rakyat for the by-election.

The Election Commission has fixed May 8 for nomination and May 16 for polling in the Sibu by-election.

The by-election was called after Deputy Transport Minister and Sibu five-term MP Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew died on April 9 of liver cancer.
