Studies to be done for benefit of road users

A TRAFFIC study will be carried out in Section 7, Shah Alam, to ease flow and make it safer for pedestrians.

Mayor Datuk Seri Mazalan Md Noor said Pakatan Runding Yusoff Sdn Bhd had been awarded the contract costing RM100,000.

The Selangor government approved the allocation on Sept 30.

“Our aim is the improve the traffic system in Section 7 for motorists and make it safer for pedestrians because Universiti Teknologi Mara is located in the area,” he said.

He added that the consultants would also suggest changes where it involved the relocating of water pipes or streetlights.

Mazalan said special attention would be given to accident-prone stretches and danger zones..

“We have to do the traffic study as part of the Complete Road Design, that includes the building of a flyover from the Federal highway to I-City,” he said.

The road design aims to meet the needs of pedestrians, motorcyclists, public transport passengers and motorists.

MBSA councillor V. Vembarasan said streets must be safe for senior citizens, residents and UiTM students.

“Our engineering and planning department will work closely with the consultants to ensure that the study is carried out smoothly.

“All this is important as we have I-City in Shah Alam and its part of the state government’s efforts to transform Selangor’s economy into a knowledge-economy,” he said.
