Mizz Nina and Noh to tie the knot

KUALA LUMPUR: Their romance was one of the best kept secrets in the local entertainment scene. Not anymore.

Hip-hop star Mizz Nina and rock star Noh (from indie band Hujan) have finally come clean on their love affair and said they would wed in July next year.

“We got engaged on Nov 6 in a private ceremony at my mother’s place in Ampang,” said Mizz Nina, formerly of Teh Tarik Crew.

Fans would know her as the pretty lass in the duet What You Waiting For with American pop star Colby O’Donis.

Mizz Nina and Noh called a press conference at a restaurant here yesterday to break their silence on their relationship and announce their wedding day.

Mizz Nina, the daughter of AmBank Group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim, said the engagement ceremony was attended by some 50 close family members from both sides.

Noh’s family is from Miri.

The akad nikah (solemnisation of marriage) will be held on Mizz Nina’s birthday on July 1, followed by a bersanding ceremony and wedding reception two days later.

They also plan to have a special reception for the media on July 6.

The pair said they had been friends since 2007 but romance blossomed only after their collaboration on Kurnia, which was recorded in December last year.

Kurnia (meaning gift) is our love anthem now,” Noh said.

“We were not so serious about each other when we recorded the song. The feelings came only after we were done with it.”

Noh said he loved Mizz Nina for the cool cat that she was while Mizz Nina said she adored him for being the sweetheart that he was.

“He’s a bit crazy and can be fierce at times. But he’s actually a sweet, humble and romantic guy. He accepts me for who I am,” she said.

Noh admitted feeling under pressure when he first met Mizz Nina’s corporate figure father to ask for her hand.

“But Tan Sri really made me feel comfortable. He explained to me what family life was all about. He also respects my career as a musician.

“After talking to him, I got more excited about marrying his daughter!”
